I am currently Reading Jo Nesbo's famous gutwrencher The Snowman. I must admit that this genre has never been my favorite, and besides from reading Stieg Larsson's Millenium series I have read little to none of the now coined "Scandinavian Noir", literature. However, I am really enjoying this one, and I found this documentary on the subject extremely interesting. Being from Norway myself I have never fully considered why Nordic countries is such a good setting for crime novels, yet after seeing this I do agree on many of the points they make. The cold, the snow-covered woods, the scarce population, and the mythical aspects. These are all parts of my Scandinavian home that may just create the most perfect surroundings for a dreadful deed.
I'll be posting more soon on The Snowman, but until then enjoy this documentary on Scandinavian Noir, especially the insight it gives into the backbone of the famous Millenium triology.
