“Never judge a book by its movie"

The premiere of the movie “Water for Elephants" based on the book with the same name, by Sara Gruen is coming up in April. Need less to say, I'm excited. By previous experience though, I can only assume that it will never be able to measure up to the world Gruben managed to create on the pages of her book.
The historical novel is indeed a world of its own, and what a world it is: love, elephants, death, hunger, lions, greed, ringmasters, friendship, horses and dwarfs, there is just no way you're ready to leave by the end of the book. There's something about the opportunity to have a peak into the mysteries of the Traveling Circus that catered both to my childish curiosity and genuine historical interest in this phenomenon. The Benzini Brothers Most Spectacular Show on Earth is the perfect setting for surprising intrigue and faulty humanity. And then there's Jacob, the protagonist, who is so easy to love its heartbreaking when you get to the last page and realize that you have to let him go.

In Short: Don't just go see the movie, read the book!
